I began my career as a photographer and was introduced to printmaking at university. I worked at Robert Blackburn printmaking studio in NYC for many years before beginning my painting journey.
To begin with oil painting I studied from the figure at various salons and learned techniques such as fresco and egg tempra before learning underpainting with glazing.
My process is to use the creative process to challenge my notions of self and observations about reality. I work with automatic drawing to intuit the basic structure of any given artwork. The idea is to use the vehicle of painting to uncover deeper levels of consciousness and our connection to archetypal imagery.
I work in various media including ceramics, two-dimensional media, and art clothing. I am interested in creating a social interface with the general public about the creative process and my personal experience.
